Professional baryta paper drying press with tensioning cloth and temperature control for paper formats up to 51x65cm.
Special features of this press are the precise temperature control, as well as the sophisticated tensioning mechanism of the drying cloth, which leads to a very strong and, above all, very even contact pressure.
Standard drying
Natural gloss (glossy photo paper) or matt (matte photo paper).
The images are inserted while still wet with the emulsion side facing the cloth.
The pictures should no longer be completely wet, but you should squeeze the prints a little before drying them, or use a sponge cloth or squeegee to wipe off excess water.
At the operating temperature of about 75-80 degrees Celsius, the images are pressed smooth and dried at the same time.
The processing time depends on the paper used and you should test it for your purposes first.
A notice:
An excessively long stay in the hot press leads to the paper felt drying out and should therefore be avoided.
Fineart drying
Smoothing of pre-dried images
This is the preferred method of many analog fine art printers.
You can pre-dry your baryta prints on drying screens in the air for about 10-12 hours and then smooth them out using a press at about 75-80 degrees Celsius.
Depending on the type of paper, this usually only takes a few minutes.
High gloss drying
The classic high-gloss drying of baryta papers is also possible with this press.
For this purpose, the image is first pressed with the emulsion side onto an optionally available glossy film, which you can also find in our shop, using a roller squeezer and the whole thing is then placed in the press.
Mastering this method is quite challenging and, depending on the type of paper, it requires a series of experiments until you find the right pressure, temperature and time for you.
It may also be necessary to pre-treat the paper with hardener and a strong wetting agent. The film used must also be immaculately clean. Even the smallest contamination or limescale residue on the surface can affect the result.
