Available

Professional baryta paper drying press with tensioning cloth and temperature control for paper formats up to 51x65cm.

Special features of this press are the precise temperature control and the sophisticated tensioning mechanism of the drying cloth, which results in a very strong and, above all, very even contact pressure.

--> Please also note our manufacturer's instructions regarding adjustments to the products and possible deviations from the product images.
In the case of this dry press, signs of wear appeared over the years on the wooden handle and its locking mechanism.
Therefore, the presses are currently delivered with a ball-bearing "long-life handle" made of white polyamide plastic. This ensures improved durability and easier operation in practice.

Standard drying

Natural gloss (glossy photo paper) or matte (matte photo paper).

The images are inserted while still wet with the emulsion side facing the cloth.

The pictures should no longer be completely wet, but you should squeeze the prints a little before they dry, or wipe off excess water using a sponge or squeegee.

At the operating temperature of about 75-80 degrees Celsius, the images are simultaneously pressed flat and dried.

The processing time depends on the paper used and you should test it first for your purposes.

A notice:

Excessive time in the hot press leads to drying out of the paper felt and should therefore be avoided.

Fine art drying

Smoothing of pre-dried images

This is the preferred method of many analog fine art printers.

You can pre-dry your baryta prints, for example, on drying screens in the air for about 10-12 hours and then finally smooth them at about 75-80 degrees Celsius using the press.

Depending on the type of paper, this usually only takes a few minutes.

High-gloss drying

The classic high-gloss drying of baryta papers is also possible with this press.

For this purpose, the image is first pressed with the emulsion side onto an optionally available glossy film, which you can also find in our shop, using a roller squeezer and then the whole thing is placed in the press.

Mastering this method is quite challenging and, depending on the type of paper, it requires a series of experiments until you find the right pressure, temperature and time for you.

Pretreating the paper with a hardener and a strong wetting agent may also be necessary. The film used must also be spotlessly clean. Even the smallest impurities or limescale residue on the surface can affect the result.

Freight forwarding

Due to its size and weight, this item cannot be shipped as a regular parcel; it must be shipped via freight forwarding. Shipping costs will be calculated during checkout after you enter your delivery address.
