Professional contact print frames for analogue fine printing differ from simple contact print frames from the darkroom in that they are printed on from the back.

In fine art printing, this is also referred to as the "print-out process," or "POP" for short. This means that the exposure progress is constantly monitored, especially when exposing in direct sunlight. For this, the frame must be able to be opened from the back, halfway to prevent the inserted negative and paper from slipping.

• Position the opened frame with the glass side down and insert the negative first.
• Next comes the emulsion-coated paper (or fabric) with the emulsion side facing the negative.
• Close the back of the frame with the wooden board and fasten the clamps
• For inspection during exposure, you can open the rear flap while the paper and negative remain held in place by the remaining clamps. This allows you to continue exposure if necessary without the contents shifting.
  Important: Remove the frame from the light source to avoid accidental exposure of the paper when opening the frame.
