Small writings on photography
Roland Barthes is one of the classics of photography theory. His late masterpiece , Chamber Lucida in particular, has dominated the debates of the last few decades and formulated their fundamental questions. What is less well known is that throughout his life, from Myths of Everyday Life to his last lecture , Preparation for the Novel , Barthes published extensively on the aesthetics and theory of photography. These scattered texts, on fashion, advertising, theater and shock photos, and on photographers such as Richard Avedon, Lucien Clergue and Wilhelm von Gloeden, are brought together here for the first time. They are the "whole Barthes" in the burning mirror of photography.
