Collected Writings
Gottfried Jäger's works and writings mark one of the most important and lasting redefinitions of photography in the last fifty years. He consistently transformed existing forms of abstraction into a radical questioning of the media character of photography and led this to concrete and generative photography.
Photography becomes its own subject, the images it produces are explorations of its own limits and possibilities: it becomes photography of photography. Jäger consistently supplements his work with texts that are as astute and rich in material as they are programmatic. In 2014, Gottfried Jäger was awarded the prestigious Culture Prize of the German Society for Photography. His writings on photography are now being published in their entirety, together with numerous documents from the workshop.
