Cyanotypes are generally famous for their deep blue colors. But it is also possible to change them afterwards.
With the help of our Flic Film Bleacher Bath, the cyanotype can first be bleached and then toned.
Contents: 100g powder
Application
Dissolve 1 1/2 teaspoons of bleach per 1L of water.
Place the cyanotype to be bleached in the bleaching bath and wait until the blue image areas have largely disappeared, or no further change occurs.
You can then place the image in another bath for toning. Fabrics with a high tannin content, such as strong tea, or our optimized Flic Film Tannin Toner, are very suitable for this purpose.
Important:
For best results, the blue dye of the cyanotype should be fully developed before bleaching. You can achieve this by giving the cyanotype sufficient time to oxidize, or by briefly placing the still wet image directly after development in a bath of 0.3% hydrogen peroxide.
